EchoChamber

Terms & Conditions

Effective: October 2026

Short version: The app is yours to use for lawful personal purposes, your writing stays yours, subscriptions renew until you cancel, and we do the usual "provided as is" disclaimers. The details below are the full terms.

1. The service

EchoChamber is a private journaling and messaging-style note application for Android and Windows ("the App"), operated under the trade name EchoChamber ("we", "us"). The App works without an account, on-device, by default. Optional features — cloud sync across devices and a subscription that unlocks them — require an account.

2. Accounts

The free, on-device use of the App requires no account. If you create a cloud account you are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for the activity under your account. You must provide a valid email address, because it is how we reach you for account matters such as password resets and deletion confirmations. You can delete your account at any time under Settings → Account, or as described on our account deletion page.

3. Prices and billing

PlanPriceWhat it is
Free$0, foreverThe whole app on one device, no account, no time limit

Echo (monthly)$6.99 / monthSame as Echo annual, billed monthly
Local Pro$39.99 one-timeAutomatic LAN sync between your devices, forever, with no cloud and no subscription

Prices shown are for purchases made from the Windows app or this website. Google Play purchases are priced and processed in the Play Store.

Who sells to you. Purchases made from the Windows app or this website are processed by our payment provider, which acts as the merchant of record — the seller of record for those transactions, identified as such on your receipt. Purchases made inside the Android app are processed by Google Play.

Subscriptions renew until you cancel. Echo subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or annually) unless you cancel first. You can cancel at any time:

Local Pro is a one-time purchase and does not renew. Where local law gives you a statutory right of withdrawal, it is unaffected by anything here — see our refund policy.

4. Your content stays yours

You retain all rights to the notes, messages, media, and other content you create in the App. We claim no ownership over it and do not use it for advertising, analytics, or model training. You grant us only the limited permission needed to operate features you explicitly enable — for example, storing encrypted data on our servers when you turn on cloud sync — and that permission ends when you delete the data or your account.

5. Acceptable use

You may not use the App to violate any law, to infringe the rights of others, or to attempt to disrupt, reverse engineer for harm, or gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' data. The optional cloud features are provided for personal use; automated excessive usage that degrades the service for others may result in suspension.

6. Availability and changes

The App is provided "as is" and "as available". We may add, change, or remove features over time, and we may suspend or discontinue optional services (for example cloud sync) if reasonably necessary. We work to keep the App reliable but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim arising out of the App is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim (or $50 if you have paid nothing). Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including your statutory consumer rights.

8. Termination

You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these terms. Sections that by their nature should survive (including your content ownership and liability limits) survive termination.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer in a jurisdiction that grants you mandatory protections, nothing here removes them.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms; the effective date at the top of this page changes when we do. Material changes will be announced in the app's release notes. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.

EchoChamber is operated as a sole proprietorship in the United States. Purchases outside Google Play are sold by our payment provider as merchant of record on behalf of the operator.
